MODX Meetup @ Grünenwald, Switzerland
Date: February, 8th — 11th 2018
Location: Gasthaus Grünenwald, Grünenwald 1, 6390 Engelberg, Switzerland
The Gasthaus Grünenwald is situated outside the mountain village of Engelberg. A quite famous ski ressort in Switzerland. Located centrally, about 30 kilometres from Lucerne.
It was built a 100 years ago an run, since 20 years, by some music addicted guys and gals. A lot of bands come here to rehearse, but now we want to invite MODX addicts for a few days of tech and snow.
We want to meet and work together, have a good time and a few drinks. But there also should be enough time to catch the snowboard or skis to draw some lines into the snow.
Ok, at the moment it looks more like this.
The main goal will be meeting MODX oriented people. Have a sip of coffee in the morning, discussion, working together and take a sip of beer in the evening.
We suggest to cover the following topics. We are open for any suggestions and we will update this section regularly.
Topics: MODX Workflow (Gitify, gulp, git, ...) / Community related issues
It shall be more a workshop than a meeting. We'd like to check out how people are working with MODX. How they organize their workflow. What is needed to install, setup and building a MODX Website? What tools do you use to get the routine jobs done (automatically)? Gitify, gulp, git, yeoman, CodeKit?
We want to present our workflows and (hopefully) can write to a useful description for anyone interested in it.
A lot was presented and talked about how everyone is invited to help building our MODX Community. There are hundreds of resources around that show how to contribute, even for non-developers there is a lot they can do to make our preferred CMS better.
We'd like to take action. How can we collect all those available informations and put it into one place? How can we lower the barriers to motivate people to contribute? Are there any non-technical obstacles that prevent MODXers from being a active part of the community?
We are two guys working with MODX since several years and we are still excited about it. At least once a week we talk about how happy we are that we do not have to wrap our heads around other, funny CMS.
We run our own small company called Pixmill.
Reto is the CSS and frontend wizard.
Fabian is more the behind-the-scences guy. And he took the chance to meet awesome like-minded persons during meetups in Cologne, Almaty and Minsk. He is also living in the lovely Gasthaus Grünenwald.
Switzerland is expensive, for sure. So we'd like you offer free accomodation at our guesthouse. We provide 5 guest rooms.
If anyone wants to spend money on a more modern atmosphere, we recommend the Hotel Bellevue-Terminus in Engelberg. Call them directly, booking.com and all other platforms do not offer the best prices.
There should be enough of everything. We will cook and eat together. Just throw some money into the food pot and we will buy whatever we are keen on. Drinks are for free, too.
And most important: there are multiple coffee machines. Provided for free and à go go.
Why in wintertime in the Swiss Alps, you may ask. The answer is simple: because we live here and Engelberg is a excellent skiing spot. So, if you'd like to jump out of the meeting and put your skis on: go ahead. There is some snow waiting for you. We'll try to provide you with some reduced price cards for the cable cars.
By car: check Google Maps, it will guide you
By train: Take a train to Lucerne/Luzern. From there you'll find your connecting train up to Engelberg (about 1 hour). Then call me, I will pick you up at the trainstation of Engelberg.
Just send us an email or call us.
